Lavanya- BC Temperature

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) publishes comprehensive climate data including temperature and precipitation, for various locations across Canada. Understanding the increase in temperature is crucial in comprehending the complexities of climate change and its impacts on weather patterns.
To conduct this analysis, monthly climate summary for the year 2023 and the province of British Columbia were acquired from the ECCC website. The maps were created using geostatistical wizard and geoprocessing tools on ArcGIS Pro.
The mean temperature data from each climate station were interpolated using the inverse distance weight interpolation method to generate smooth continuous surfaces represented as raster layers for each month. The exploratory interpolation tool was used to determine the interpolation method with the lowest prediction error.
To ensure consistency, a symbolization range of -17C to 24C was maintained to facilitate a consistent comparison. Point clustering symbolization was used to visualize the climate station locations and a chart was used to show a general overview of temperature variability.
