This practicum project was sponsored by the Ministry of Forests and Water, Land, and Resource Stewardship of British Columbia as a part of my Advanced Diploma in GIS Applications program curriculum at VIU. Leveraging LiDAR based high-resolution digital elevation models with ArcGIS Pro's advanced spatial analyses, I derived hydrologically meaningful riparian zones around small lakes in the West Coast and South Coast natural resource regions of BC, and recommended optimal riparian zone widths based on terrain conditions conducive to riparian vegetation growth.
