This project explores seasonal variations in land surface temperature (LST) across Vancouver Island, British Columbia, using thermal infrared data from the Landsat 8 satellite. Focusing on the period between October 2023 and August 2024, it highlights patterns during the city's coldest and hottest months. Using Google Earth Engine (GEE), the application includes calculation of median LST for winter and summer periods, time-series analysis to observe temperature fluctuations over time, and interactive visualization for spatial patterns and extremes. The final product is a dynamic web application that allows users to click anywhere within the island boundary to retrieve the median temperature for that location, offering a hands-on way to explore climate variability.
